Chef Theo Thomas and Chef Xavier Thomas
bring cooking expertise to the Cooking with STEAM program!
In April 2019, Chef Theo and Chef Xavier opened The Fusion Chefs Eatery in the Downtown area of Fayetteville, Georgia. While they specialize in affordable fine dining and catering, they have opened their doors to teach children in the community how to cook.
Cooking with STEAM aims to give students a unique experience that teaches students how science, technology, engineering, art, and math connect with cooking. The program not only encourages students to cook their own nutritious meals, it teaches students how to apply standards-based content to real world situations.
Our classes incorporate elements such as: kitchen safety, food preparation, cooking & baking techniques, presentation, proper food handling, dining etiquette and STEAM concepts. Our weekly classes are the perfect place for students to develop, build upon, and sharpen their culinary skills as they progress into more complex food preparation and presentation, right in time for our culminating cooking challenge!
Cooking Challenge
Each participant will have 90 minutes to prepare, cook (with assistance from the Fusion Chefs), and plate their meal. Initial judging will be anonymously based on execution, appearance, taste, and overall best. Before final judging, they will be required to present a sample to the judges and will explain the components represented. A people's choice vote will be considered for the winner of Best Overall, and that winner will receive the title of Junior Fusionaire and the coveted chef jacket.
